Getting to Utila
As there are no direct international flights, getting to Utila involves an additional travel leg. Your options are to fly into San Pedro Sula (SAP) or Roatan (RTB). From either of these two international airports you can connect with scheduled and chapter plane services making getting to Utila fairly straight forward. We can take care of booking your internal air travel.
There are also land and water based travel services available for getting to Utila.
San Pedro Sula: Home to the largest International airport and second largest city in Honduras. To arrive on Utila the same day you need to plan for your international flight to arrive in San Pedro Sula by around noon to allow you time for customs, etc. From here you can take a flight to Utila on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 2pm.
There is also a direct coach service from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba - it is air conditioned, has reserved seats and takes approx. 3.5 hours.
We can also arrange a private driver to transfer you directly from the airport in San Pedro Sula to the ferry dock in La Ceiba should your landing time not correspond with either of the ferries.
La Ceiba: A smaller city on the coast of Honduras, and is the point of departure for the Utila Princess and Utila Dream ferries, which both leave twice daily from La Ceiba.
Roatan: The largest of the Bay Islands, 20 miles from Utila, has an international airport. There is a regular scheduled flight from Roatan to Utila on Saturday afternoon’s only.
Pre-booked charter flights can be scheduled for any time there is daylight. With calm flat seas there are also boat transportation options available.
We are happy to advice and liaise with local travel agencies on the behalf of our guests.
